JANUARY THOUGHTS

HELLO EVERYONE!   I decided to do a post reflecting on how my January has been with reading, life etc.  I have been reading just not as much as I would like to.  I have completed 3 books this month.  I was hoping to have at least 4 maybe 5 completed but I have not read as much as I wanted to at night.      I work full time in a school district and after work I sometimes go to the gym, work at a sporting event or I go home and try to do some cleaning.  I am trying to catch up on my TV shows.  I also spend time with my boyfriend.  I do try to read when I am with him if he is playing video games, but alas I sometimes get distracted by the game.  I will also read when I am selling tickets at a sporting event if it is a little slow.      Here is a list of books I am currently reading: Cold Case (Carlotta Carlyle #7) by Linda Barnes The Rosie Project (Don Tillman #1) by Graeme Simsion The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton Prisoner of my Desire by Johanna Lindsey      I am concentr

The Buddha in the Attic Review

This was a book club book.  Some of the books from my library book club are books I would never think of picking up to read on my own, and this was one of them. I didn't love nor hate this book.  The reason I didn't love or hate this book is because it didn't have a story.  This had many stories of the picture brides and what happened to them when they came to the west coast.   To see how they were treated not only by their husbands but also their employers, and people they met here.  To think that we as a society treated and some still do treat people of different cultures so cruelly and with such disrespect for their well being.  I like to think that we as a society have improved and aren't living in the 'dark ages'. I am now interested in reading Julie's first book to see if I enjoy that one more since it has a story of just one family. Most everyone in the book club had the same feeling about the book.  We all felt that we learned something from

The Secret of Shady Glen - Nancy Drew Review

🎶  I read this book because I am trying to clear out my book shelves.  I have so many young adult/children books that I want to read as many as I can this year and to donate them to either a library, a classroom or even to an individual person.        I remember my sister reading these books when we were growing up.  I don't remember many of the ones that I read.  Even though I am an adult I still find books written for the young generation entertaining.  Especially when they were written before the technology we now have.      I enjoyed this book as it was a very quick read and well paced.  I could see a young person enjoying this book and wanting to finish reading it.  The story was of a treasure hunt and figuring out who was committing the robberies in Shady Glen.  Even though Nancy is considered an amateur detective she knows how to look for clues.      I hope that some young children will enjoy reading this book along with all of the Nancy Drew books.

Beat the Backlist

I am back!!! Again....  Welcome to my blog!  I am starting again with blogging about the books I read.  I will also be making posts about some television shows I am watching.  This post is about one of the many challenges I am participating in this year, Beat the Backlist.  I don't have a formal list of the books I plan to read but my goal for 2019 is to read more books from my personal shelves.  I will include in this challenge any books that I have on my TBR shelves that I don't own.  Here are a few books I would like to read for this challenge: Nancy Drew books One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton Me by Ricky Martin Cold Case by Linda Barnes These are just a few of the books I hope to read for this challenge.  I am trying to deplete the actually number of books that I have on my shelves at home.  My reasoning for this is because I need space.  I will be deciding after reading the books if I wan
